Support Our Veterans!

Through a close relationship with the Texas Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America (TxPVA), our scouts have the opportunity to work with, learn from, and honor disabled veterans in our area, teaching us all so much about both disabilities awareness and compassion for others.

About Our Troop

Troop 1659 serves boys - ages 11-17 - who have earned the Arrow of Light award as a Cub Scout or have completed the fifth grade.

In addition to regular meetings, we plan camping weekends most months of the year, plus other fun, learning, and team-building activities:

  • Kayaking

  • Fishing

  • Shooting sports

  • Fundraisers

  • Service projects

  • Lock-in overnights

Our charter organization is Friends of Whitney Lodge (FOWL), a non-profit civic organization that was formed specifically to sponsor and support youth and scouting activities in the Oak Creek Village and Olde Oaks neighborhoods over 40 years ago. We’re a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.

Our organization is named to honor Doug Whitney, an adult leader from the Sam Houston Area Council who exemplified the qualities of BSA leadership by continuously serving the youth in his charge while battling a serious illness.
